Commit To Your Life

There are two fatal errors that keep great projects from coming to life:
– Not finishing
– Not starting -Buddha

Many people stop just before the diet really works or right before they finish a project that could lead them to a new sense of accomplishment. It is too easy at times to walk away and “get by” with just enough at the end of the day rather than asking ourselves, “Did I give this day, this moment, this relationship, this patient all I have”? I realized a number of years ago when I would see someone for counseling that they would talk about every subject in the world until we got to the last five minutes and then they would start addressing the real issues.

Don’t wait in your life, at your work, with your friends or colleagues for the last five minutes. Be dedicated to be authentic and give all that you can in this moment. When you are at work focus your attention there, when you are with your child do not think about work. Being present is so crucial to benefiting from the magic that lives right now.

Nike expressed the concept best when their advertising campaign stated, Just Do It! Get started on that dream, the letter, the yard, the great things you are waiting to have happen. Break your projects into tiny ones; in other words rather than waiting a day to read a good book read a chapter a day. You can read a few books a year this way versus never reading at all. Instead of waiting to redo your home, do one area at a time. Remember to keep it simple. If we make a new idea overwhelming we will not start it or if we do, we will not finish it.

If the true intention is to feel better about yourself.then make sure what you are finishing or what you are starting falls into that paradigm.

As long as we believe the cross is rugged, we will never outgrow the splinters that come with it. We will never learn to go with the “natural grain” of life—a cross of empowerment rather than a cross of deep, wounded rejection and disconnection. Dolly Parton was once quoted as saying, “Get down off the…

The Journey of Life

“If you ain’t busy living, you’re busy dying” – Bob Dylan One of my teachers once said, “We are not here to solve all the problems of the world… we are here to not be ONE of them.” Life is filled with many twists and turns, speed bumps, ditches and dead end streets. This is…
