Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

A father related how one of his son’s favorite games was “hide and seek” – his son always hid. The game always went the same: Dad always counted to 100 by 5’s and then would shout out, “Here comes Daddy to find you Tommy.” And Tommy would always hide in the same room and the same spot – but of course Dad always went through the motions of looking in just about every other room.

He’d go into one of the bedrooms and loudly proclaim “I wonder if Tommy is under the bed?” Down the hall he could hear the barely suppressed giggles of his child as he lifted up the sheets. “I wonder if he’s in the closet?” Again giggles from the other room. Making his way into the bathroom, Dad would say “I wonder if he’s in the shower?” Giggles. “I wonder if he’s in the toilet?” as he lifted the seat. The giggles were getting louder. Out in the hallway now, the father proclaimed “I wonder where Tommy could be?” And at that moment Tommy would burst out of his parents’ bedroom crying “Here I am Daddy, here I am!” and throw himself into his Dad’s waiting arms. The Father recalled telling his son “But, Tommy, that’s not how the game is played.” But Tommy didn’t care – that’s how he played the game. For the object of the game to Tommy was in being found and then to rush into his father’s arms.

Prayer Paths

Prayer Paths

In one region of Africa, the first converts to Christianity were very diligent about praying. In fact, the believers each had their own special place outside the village where they went to pray in solitude. The villagers reached these “prayer rooms” by using their own private footpaths through the brush. When grass began to grow…

A Full Life

A Full Life

We have sacrificed the true message of Jesus that says know your connection to your true Father/Creator and you can have a life full of miracles. We have been taught a very misguided and misleading message that has caused us to live a miracle of being dead while we are alive. We have sacrificed a…

What is Sacred

What is Sacred

We have gone amiss by losing the sacred art of ancient rituals and symbols in our culture. It is evident that we want these rituals and symbols, however, because of the popularity of books by J. K. Rowling and Dan Brown and films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones. We long…

What is atonement?

What is atonement?

In traditional Christianity, atonement is the reconciliation of sinful men and women to God through the death of Jesus. In Unity, we do not recognize a need to be reconciled with God because we are all created in God’s image and likeness. As human beings we are the microcosm of the macrocosm, created to express our unique…
