Don’t Give Up 5 Minutes Before the Miracle

Don’t Give Up 5 Minutes Before the Miracle

The only time you fail is the last time you try. –Anonymous

Have you ever heard the statement,” My life is falling apart so it can come together in a new way”…there is a lot of truth with these words….there are times right before we give up that the final product, the true romance, the project will fall in place. I love Steven Covey’s book, Seven Habits for Highly Effective People . To me it is one of the best books ever written about self actualization and self management. He said to KEEP THE END IN MIND….to go to where you would like the end result to be and then come back to today and integrate little steps towards the goal. You may not be able to afford a trip to Paris next week but you could a get a set of luggage, order a passport, and get brochures from an agent. Then set aside a bank account/savings account specifically for your Paris trip. There is always a door and a way. I think we spend more time arguing our position versus looking for new solutions.

What are you about to give up on? Read Steven Covey or listen to his tapes. It helps if you redefine what you are expecting to happen. Maybe the delay is necessary due to all the pieces not being ready.

My friend taught me a lot about relationship because she would say, “I’ve spent as much time divorcing my husband as I have being with him.” She was always willing to be on the edge of leaving so she could see clearly what their relationship needed and she would give him permission to do the same.

Next time you are getting ready to walk away, transform your thinking and see if a new clarity is right in front of you… maybe leaving or quitting isn’t the answer, maybe new direction is.

The Methodist Class Meeting was much like the Giant Sequoia Trees in California. Just like the Methodist Class Meeting, the Great Sequoias “hold each other up.” They may reach a height of 311 feet, an age of 3200 years. They often weigh 2.7 million pounds. Their bark on the average is 31 inches thick. Their…

A few years ago I led a sacred pilgrimage to Peru with thirty-three people. It was an amazing and insightful journey for each of us. When we were on the bus and returning to the airport, I noticed the sadness in one of the women’s eyes, and I asked her, “What is so heavy on…
