ME time = play time!

ME time = play time!

When we were kids we had so much structured “taking care of me time”. We had time at recess and physical education and time to draw and question and play with friends. As adults, we need to remember this reality and attempt to put it into perspective. Life is not interesting and motivating if we only work and have no play or ME time.

If you take the words:

  • AccomplishMEnt
  • AchieveMEnt
  • TiME
  • MEmory
  • EmpowerMEnt

…they all share the word ME

ME time doesn’t have to be for long periods of time. In stress management we use to identify with all kinds of ideas that could help by keeping it simple:

  • A walk around the building at the office or hospital
  • Taking different roads to our work
  • Humorous gadgets for the workplace that we could use to tease coworkers or patients
  • Pets that give us love and energy
  • A movie day
  • Time near or at the water
  • Exercise
  • Blowing bubbles
  • Writing a note to someone you haven’t spoken to in awhile
  • Mend your heart
  • Forgive yourself
  • Take a dance class
  • Do Taebo
  • Watch a comedy
  • Look for a butterfly
  • Get out in Nature

Do something different every week even if it’s just buying something new at the grocery store. Buy yourself a small gift or get something you’ve always wanted…lay it away if necessary. However, do not go out of your means……that adds stress.

Another great story to share.. about a professor who sat at his desk one evening working on the next day’s lectures. His housekeeper had laid that days mail and papers at his desk and he began to shuffle through them discarding most to the wastebasket. He then noticed a magazine, which was not even addressed…

Unique Souls

Unique Souls

God is the only presence and power in the universe. Each of us is an individualized expression of the One. Our souls, like our fingerprints are unique. We each follow our unique paths, and our souls recognize the way of these paths. Sayings like “that touched my soul,” are mirrors of who we are as…

A Place of Wholeness

A Place of Wholeness

I have been doing christening ceremonies for the past twenty-three years, and each time I invite everyone from the immediate “village,” who are there to support the child to come into a circle. I always ask, “What do you wish and pray for with this child?” The answers come quickly: to live his dreams, to…

Drained to Impassioned

Drained to Impassioned

Would you say that you have felt somewhat disconnected and drained? Do you often feel like life is not giving you the joy, passion, and drive you felt when you were a child? Have you ever felt like you awoke from a dream that wouldn’t let you go even though you knew you had woken…
